BuildForce Armed Forces Day Trek

Join us on the 28th of June for our annual 15-mile trek through the picturesque Dorset countryside in honour of Armed Forces Day. This event, now in its fifth year, is a tribute to the dedicated individuals in the Armed Forces community, including serving troops, veterans, families, and cadets whilst also recognising the support BuildForce provides our military community as they transition into the next phase of their life. Our new off-road route is designed for all fitness levels, welcoming families and even furry friends to join the journey. Led by our program director, Caroline Logan, accompanied by our mentors, employers,  veterans, and service leavers, this special day promises camaraderie and shared experiences. A fantastic day of ‘walk & talk’ as we come together as strangers and leave as comrades, finishing off to celebrate our achievements with a much-deserved cold drink and buffet (provided by BuildForce and the Sheaf) back at the Sheaf of Arrows in the beautiful village of Cranborne.

Our employer’s cover: construction, homebuilding, infrastructure, logistics, utilities, security, engineering, data centres, digital, defence and facilities management.

BuildForce is nationwide and offers a compliment of services focused on pre-employment, employment, education, mental health and after-care, to support our Service Leavers, Veterans, Reservists and military families, as they transition from their military career to a construction civilian career.

According to government figures

An extra 225,000 construction workers may be needed by 2027, according to the latest Construction Skills Network (CSN) report.

All nine English regions, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are set to experience growth.

There will be 2.67 million workers in construction industry by 2027 if projected growth is met.

A professional career in construction is accessible to all military ranks and skillsets, and offers immense career satisfaction in a challenging and dynamic sector.
